The expectations placed on Boards by both shareholders and external commentators are higher than they have ever been. It is important to work with a firm that has experience of and understands the unique pressures and challenges of the boardroom.

30% of our work is in finding Chairmen and Non-Executive Directors. Over the last three years, we have worked at Board level for over half of the FTSE 25 companies and over a quarter of the FTSE 100; we have been involved in the appointment of 15 of the current FTSE 100 Chairmen. In addition, we work with a range of mid-cap, private and not-for-profit organisations.

We work extensively at Board level for clients outside the UK. We have led Non-Executive assignments for 65 of the Fortune 500, for leading companies in geographies including North America, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Finland, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Dubai and Qatar. We have placed over 600 current NEDs worldwide.

We have a particular reputation for and expertise in appointing high quality women to Boards, frequently helping them to secure their first Non-Executive role. We have supported the appointments of over 20% of the women currently sitting on FTSE 50 Boards and of 15% of the women in the FTSE 100; in the last year, over 40% of our Non-Executive assignments have led to the appointment of female candidates.

In most cases, we have long-standing Board relationships with our clients, enabling us to bring real insight to their particular needs and challenges and to place specific assignments in the context of broader thinking about board effectiveness and longer-term succession planning.
